为锻炼学生的逻辑思维与语言表达能力，我校六年级师生近日积极备战包河区中小学生辩论赛。从校内选拔到外出参赛，从课堂走向赛场，孩子们用一场场交锋，完成了一次别样的成长。
To develop pupils’ logical thinking and verbal communication skills, P6 pupils and teachers at our school have recently been actively preparing for the Baohe District Primary and Secondary School Debating Competition. From the in-school selection rounds to competing externally, and from the classroom to the debating arena, the children have undergone a unique journey of personal growth through each round of debate.
层层选拔，悉心辅导
A Rigorous Selection Process, Followed by Dedicated Guidance
活动启动后，各班学生踊跃报名。学校老师从逻辑思维、语言表达、临场应变等维度综合考量，通过演讲展示与即兴答辩，组建了校辩论队。备赛期间，老师们围绕辩题解读、论据挖掘、攻防策略逐项指导，从观点打磨到仪态台风，细致入微。
Following the launch of the event, pupils from every class signed up enthusiastically. The school’s teachers assessed candidates comprehensively across various criteria, including logical thinking, verbal expression and the ability to think on one’s feet, and formed the school’s debate team through speech presentations and impromptu Q&A sessions. During the preparation period, the teachers provided detailed guidance on every aspect, from interpreting the debate topics and identifying supporting evidence to devising offensive and defensive strategies, paying meticulous attention to every detail—from refining arguments to perfecting stage presence and demeanour.

Independent Study: Building a Solid Foundation for Future Success
课余时间，队员们主动查阅资料、积累案例，反复研读辩题，逐字推敲辩稿。课间的讨论声、成了这段日子最寻常的背景音。一次次观点的碰撞与修正，让他们的论证愈发扎实，表达愈发从容。
In their spare time, the team members took the initiative to consult reference materials, compile case studies, study the debate topics repeatedly and refine their speeches word by word. The sound of discussions during break times became the most common background noise during this period. Through repeated exchanges of views and revisions, their arguments became increasingly well-founded and their delivery increasingly composed.
校内练兵，初试锋芒
Training on Campus, Testing Our Skills for the First Time
赛前，学校组织校内辩论赛模拟实战。正反双方围绕辩题展开交锋，立论有理有据，质询环环相扣，自由辩论你来我往。台下掌声阵阵，评委点评精准。这场 “实战演练” 不仅让孩子们熟悉了赛制，更磨出了团队的默契与自信。
Ahead of the competition, our school organised an in-house debate to simulate the real event. The two sides—pro and con—engaged in a heated exchange on the topic, presenting well-reasoned and well-supported arguments, posing incisive cross-examinations, and exchanging views in a lively free debate. The audience responded with waves of applause, whilst the judges offered incisive commentary. This ‘practical exercise’ not only familiarised the pupils with the competition format but also honed their teamwork and confidence.

Taking to the Stage, Shining with Poise
比赛当日，我校辩手沉着登台，立论清晰、驳辩有力、结辩真挚。面对强劲对手，他们不疾不徐，展现出扎实的准备与稳定的心态，赢得了评委与观众的认可，也在更广阔的舞台上开阔了眼界。
On the day of the competition, our school’s debaters took to the stage with composure, presenting clear opening arguments, forceful rebuttals and sincere closing statements. Faced with formidable opponents, they remained calm and collected, demonstrating thorough preparation and a steady mindset, which earned them the recognition of both the judges and the audience, whilst also broadening their horizons on a wider stage.
以辩明理，以论促思。这场比赛的价值，不止于输赢 —— 孩子们在交锋中学会倾听与表达，在协作中学会担当与坚持。思辨的种子，已然在他们心中悄然生根。
Reason is clarified through debate, and thought is stimulated through discussion. The value of this competition lies in more than just winning or losing — through their exchanges, the children learn to listen and express themselves; through collaboration, they learn to take responsibility and persevere. The seeds of critical thinking have already taken root quietly in their hearts.
