“Today I take pride in SUIS-HF, and tomorrow SUIS-HF shall take pride in me.“ This has been my guiding principle since joining SUIS Hefei Campus. Hello everyone! I am Lion Li, a student in S8A at SUIS-HF. I pursue balanced academic development alongside diverse interests. Activities such as English public speaking, abacus mental arithmetic, piano, chess, drone operation, and fencing have accompanied my growth. Never giving up easily has allowed me to taste the sweetness of learning—earning numerous awards and igniting my intrinsic motivation. In June 2025, I was honoured with the title of ‘Three-Good Student’ in Baohe District. During the summer holidays of 2025 alone, I garnered over ten certificates from various national, provincial, and municipal competitions. Looking at these awards, I take pride not merely in the joy of my efforts, but also in the opportunity they afford me as a student of SUIS Hefei Campus to promote traditional Chinese culture through competitions. This allows me to introduce a credible, endearing, and admirable China to international students from around the world.

A Little Helper for Mutual Trust and Learning Between Cultures
习爷爷曾说过“我们的教育要善于从五千年中华传统文化中汲取优秀的东西，同时也不摒弃西方文明成果，真正把青少年培养成为拥有四个自信的孩子。”这番话重心长，让我心中自信的种子蓬勃生长。我立志要做一名中华传统文化的传承者和传播者，在对外学习交流中讲好中国故事，传播好中国声音，做中国好少年。
Grandpa Xi once said, “Our education should be adept at drawing the excellent from the five thousand years of Chinese traditional culture, while not discarding the achievements of Western civilization. We should truly cultivate young people into children with the ‘Four Confidences’.” These words are profound and heartfelt, and they have allowed the seed of confidence to flourish in my heart. I am determined to become an inheritor and propagator of Chinese traditional culture, to tell China’s stories well and spread China’s voice effectively in foreign learning and exchanges, and to be a good Chinese youth.
我曾是安徽省第一位珠心算段位（四段）选手。每当我向外教或外籍同学展示珠心算特长时，他们都惊讶地张大了嘴。那一刻，我仿佛就是“最强大脑”的小选手。未来，我希望通过比赛向更多的国际友人推广这项我国的非物质文化遗产。
I was once the first player in Anhui Province to achieve the fourth-level Abacus Mental Calculation title. Whenever I showcase my abacus mental calculation skills to foreign teachers or classmates, they are all amazed with their mouths wide open. At that moment, I felt like a contestant on “The Strongest Brain”. In the future, I hope to promote this intangible cultural heritage of our country to more international friends through competitions.
2025年7月，我参加了第26届“希望之星”风采展示安徽省总决选，双语介绍中国传统节日——端午节，让我获得了初中组特等奖。同期，我还参加了安徽省首届“希望之星”青少年电视双语主持人大赛，通过英文介绍安徽地方特产和文化，我又获得了省决选和精英赛的两个特等奖。
In July 2025, I participated in the 26th “Star of Outlook” talent show Anhui Province finals, where I gave a bilingual introduction to the traditional Chinese festival – Loong Boat Festival, which earned me the special award in the junior high school category. During the same period, I also participated in the first “Star of Outlook” Youth TV Bilingual Hosting Competition in Anhui Province, where I introduced Anhui local specialties and culture in English, and won two special awards in the provincial finals and elite competition.
暑假期间，我在博鳌亚洲论坛国际会议中心参加了阿斯丹袋鼠数学亚洲营，我不仅获得了两项参赛证书，还有幸向参赛的外籍学生展示了才艺，双语演讲——中华美食豆腐，演讲结束时，几位美国学生跑来向我祝贺并击掌，原来他们第一次知道豆腐是淮南王刘安炼丹时无意发明的，他们还用英文幽默的纠正我说:“豆腐不仅是中国的，也是世界的，因为我们都爱吃”。
During the summer vacation, I participated in the Asdaan Kangaroo Math Asia Camp at the Boao Forum for Asia International Convention Center. I not only obtained two certificates for participating in the competition, but also had the honor to showcase my talent and bilingual speech – Chinese cuisine tofu – to the foreign students participating in the competition. At the end of the speech, several American students came up to congratulate me and gave me a high five. It turned out that they first learned that tofu was accidentally invented by Liu An, the Prince of Huainan, during his alchemy practice. They also humorously corrected me in English, saying, “Tofu is not only Chinese, but also belongs to the world, because we all love to eat it.”.
2026年2月17日，我代表合肥协和参加的“维也纳国际爱乐艺术节暨第九届维也纳莫扎特国际钢琴大赛”中，凭借《茉莉花幻想曲》获得金奖，并在维也纳金色大厅颁奖典礼上再次返场演出。艺术无国界，希望这曲茉莉花能让更多的国际友人感受到中国人民的质朴真诚和温柔含蓄，这首曲调优美、流传久远的中国民歌，也将传达出中国人民对于真、善、美的向往和追求。一场场国际比赛不仅让我获得了自信，更让我变成了一位跨文化交际的宣传者。
On 17 February 2026, representing SUIS- HF, I was awarded the Gold Prize at the Vienna International Philharmonic Arts Festival and the Ninth Vienna Mozart International Piano Competition for my performance of the Jasmine Fantasy. I was subsequently invited to perform an encore at the awards ceremony held in Vienna’s Golden Hall. Art knows no borders. May this melody of “Jasmine” convey to our international friends the simplicity, sincerity, and gentle reserve of the Chinese people. This timeless Chinese folk song, with its exquisite melody, shall also express the Chinese people’s yearning for truth, goodness, and beauty. Each international competition has not only bolstered my confidence but also transformed me into an ambassador for cross-cultural communication.

Traditional Culture and Public Welfare Pioneer
岁月不居，时节如流，中华优秀传统文化的传承形成和载体也在不断创新。一份精心设计的传统节日主题作业；一次博物馆里的古今对话；一场故居旧址的红色游学，都能够帮助我们在润物细无声中得到传统文化的浸润，激发我们文化传承的自觉和自信。受传统文化的教育熏陶，2024年我曾参加“阿拉善SEE江淮项目中心”组织的巢湖爱鸟护鸟公益活动，也曾为安顺市沙星小学的弟弟妹妹们捐赠物资，助力寒门学子追梦。作为一名普通青少年，我们应该把爱国情、强国志、报国行自觉融入新时代追梦征程，成为跨文化交际的传播者，公益先锋的力行者，做中国文化自信的好少年！
Time marches on, and seasons flow like a river. The inheritance, formation, and carriers of excellent traditional Chinese culture are also constantly innovating. A carefully designed traditional festival-themed homework assignment, a dialogue between the past and the present in a museum, and a red tourism study at a former residence can all help us subtly immerse ourselves in traditional culture and inspire our consciousness and confidence in cultural inheritance. Influenced by traditional culture, in 2024, I participated in the “Alxa SEE Jianghuai Project Center” organized bird-loving and bird-protection public welfare activities in Chaohu Lake, and also donated materials to the younger students at Anshun City’s Shaxing Primary School, helping impoverished students pursue their dreams. As an ordinary teenager, we should consciously integrate patriotism, the ambition to strengthen the country, and the action to serve the country into the new era’s journey of pursuing dreams, become communicators of cross-cultural communication, pioneers of public welfare, and good youths with confidence in Chinese culture!

走进校门，没有刻板的教学楼排布，而是充满现代感的建筑：风雨连廊如同温暖的怀抱将教学楼、办公楼、宿舍、缪斯剧院、Steam实验室、体育馆等一一环绕，功能性和设计感完美结合。
Upon entering the school gates, one is greeted not by a rigid arrangement of teaching buildings, but by modern-looking structures. The covered walkway, resembling a warm embrace, encircles various facilities such as teaching buildings, office buildings, dormitories, the Muse Theater, the Steam Laboratory, and the gymnasium, seamlessly combining functionality with design.
课堂上，最吸引我的是中西融合的教学模式。我们不只是学习中国传统文化，还会编排诗词话剧；特色英语课上，中外教搭档，用绘本阅读、小组辩论、情景模拟的方式锻炼听说读写，而不是单纯的刷题。科技课上，我们可以接触编程、3D打印，把脑子里的奇思妙想变成实物；还有学院制、击剑、游泳、戏剧等特色课程，让我发现了课本之外的热爱。
In the classroom, what attracts me most is the teaching mode that integrates Chinese and Western elements. In class, we not only learn about traditional Chinese culture but also engage in the creation of poetry dramas. In the specialized English classes, Chinese and foreign teachers work together to hone our listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through activities such as picture book reading, group debates, and scenario simulations, rather than simply drilling on exercises. In technology classes, we have the opportunity to explore programming and 3D printing, turning our wild ideas into tangible creations. Additionally, special courses like college system, fencing, swimming, and drama have allowed me to discover passions beyond the textbooks.
这里的老师，更像我们的朋友和引路人。他们不会一味灌输，而是鼓励我们大胆提问、自主探究。遇到难题时，老师会耐心引导我理清思路；参加校园义卖、外语节等活动时，他们会放手让我们策划组织，在实践中学会沟通、协作和担当。每天早上，校长和老师们都会在校门口微笑着迎接我们，一句简单的问候，就能驱散清晨的困倦。
The teachers here are more like our friends and mentors. They don’t just spoon-feed us knowledge, but encourage us to boldly ask questions and explore independently. When we encounter difficult problems, the teachers patiently guide us to clarify our thoughts. When participating in campus charity sales, foreign language festivals, and other activities, they empower us to plan and organize, allowing us to learn communication, collaboration, and responsibility through practice. Every morning, the principal and teachers greet us with smiles at the school gate. A simple greeting can dispel the morning drowsiness.
