The crisp autumn air brought a refreshing breeze as colourful banners fluttered in the breeze. On 23rd October, the fifth Autumn Athletics Meet of SUIS Hefei Campus commenced amidst the eager anticipation of the entire school community, including students, staff and parents. This event was a splendid celebration blending sporting passion with Chinese cultural heritage, serving as a magnificent showcase of the youthful vigour and spirited demeanour of SUIS-HF’s students.

开幕式的入场环节堪称视觉盛宴，每一支方阵都带着独特的故事与活力，惊艳了整个赛场。
The opening ceremony’s procession was a visual feast, with each contingent bringing its own unique narrative and vitality to the field, leaving the entire stadium in awe.
鲜艳的五星红旗在国旗队的护送下率先入场，那抹耀眼的中国红，承载着全体师生的爱国情怀，步伐铿锵间尽显庄重与自豪。紧随其后的校旗队，手举校旗轻快走来，迎风飘扬的校旗象征着学校体育事业的蓬勃发展，更点燃了每一位“协和人”的爱校热忱。
The resplendent five-starred red flag led the procession, escorted by the flag bearers. That dazzling shade of China red bore the patriotic sentiments of all faculty and students, its resolute stride radiating solemnity and pride. Following closely behind, the school flag team marched briskly, holding aloft the institution’s banner. Fluttering in the breeze, the flag symbolised the vigorous development of the university’s sporting endeavours, igniting the fervent affection for their alma mater in every member of SUIS-HF community.
会徽队展示的作品格外引人注目，由S8A朱珈瑶同学设计的会徽，以火焰火炬传递运动激情，用中华龙与西方狮子的创意结合，巧妙诠释了学校的双语特色与多元素养，将协和学子的才华与创意展现得淋漓尽致。
The emblem team’s submission proved particularly captivating. Designed by S8A student Jenny Zhu, the emblem employs a flaming torch to convey sporting fervour, while ingeniously blending the Chinese dragon with the Western lion to symbolise the school’s bilingual ethos and multicultural ethos. This masterful creation showcases the talent and creativity of SUIS-HF students to the fullest.
色彩斑斓的彩旗队如同流动的彩虹，红似火、粉如霞、黄像金、蓝若海，每一面彩旗都舞动着青春的活力，预示着本次运动会的精彩纷呈。
The colourful flag bearers formed a moving rainbow, their banners blazing crimson, blushing pink, gleaming gold and deep blue as the sea. Each flag danced with youthful vigour, heralding the spectacular events to come at this sports meet.
The entrance of each grade group’s formation proved a particular highlight.
一年级的小健儿们身着五十六个民族的绚丽服饰，两条蛟龙舞动其间，既重现了开国大典的欢腾，更彰显了力争上游的壮志，用稚嫩的肩膀扛起“新生与基石”的使命。
The first-year pupils, dressed in the splendid attire of China’s fifty-six ethnic groups, were flanked by two dancing dragons. This spectacle not only evoked the jubilant atmosphere of the founding ceremony but also embodied their aspiration to strive for excellence, shouldering the mission of representing both new beginnings and foundational pillars with their youthful shoulders.
二年级的同学们身着50-70年代特色服装，化身工人、农民与知青代表，用铿锵步伐与坚定眼神，致敬那段热血沸腾的奋斗岁月。
Second-year students, clad in distinctive attire from the 1950s to 1970s, transformed into representatives of workers, farmers and educated youth. With resolute strides and unwavering gazes, they paid tribute to that fervent era of struggle.
三年级的学子们身着缤纷花纹衬衫，如同改革开放浪潮中绽放的希望之花，以敢为人先的姿态续写新时代的奋斗篇章。
Third-year students, clad in shirts adorned with vibrant patterns, stand as blossoms of hope amidst the tide of reform and opening-up. With a pioneering spirit, they continue to write the chapters of endeavour in this new era.
四年级的方阵带着香港回归的喜悦与三峡工程的豪情，用银色齿轮与嘹亮呐喊，传递着时代崛起的力量。
The fourth-grade formation, radiating the joy of Hong Kong’s return and the grandeur of the Three Gorges Project, conveyed the rising power of the era through gleaming silver gears and resounding shouts.
五、六年级的同学们身着奥运五环色服装，手持红旗，将奥运精神与航天精神融入血脉，立志为创新中国续写华章。
The Grade 5 and Grade 6 pupils, clad in Olympic rings colours and bearing red flags, have imbued the Olympic spirit and aerospace ethos into their very being, vowing to compose new chapters for an innovative China.
而本次开幕式的一大特色，当属初中部各学院方阵的精彩亮相，成为赛场上一道独具韵味的风景线。
A particular highlight of this opening ceremony was the splendid appearance of the secondary school’s various house contingents, which formed a uniquely charming spectacle on the field.
和合学院的学子们身披象征生机的绿色，带着“动静相宜”的智慧走来。平日课堂上的沉静是他们积蓄的定力，此刻赛场上的奔跑是他们绽放的活力，动静之间，尽显从容与专注，完美诠释了“内心如磐石，身姿似疾风”的和谐之美。
The students of Harmonia House, clad in the vibrant green symbolising vitality, stride forth embodying the wisdom of “poise in both motion and stillness”. Their quiet composure in daily lessons nurtures their inner fortitude, while their vigorous strides upon the field now unleash their blossoming energy. Between stillness and motion, they radiate poise and focus, perfectly embodying the harmonious beauty of “a heart as steadfast as rock, a form as swift as the wind”.
和融学院的方阵裹挟着深邃的蔚蓝而来，那抹灵动的色彩象征着包容与智慧。他们如同竞逐浪花的海洋精灵，每一次起跑都是文化激荡的涟漪，每一次接力都是思想交融的浪涌，用矫健的身影书写着多元共生的力量。
The formation of Nexus House swept in, enveloped in a profound azure hue, that vibrant colour symbolising inclusivity and wisdom. Like ocean spirits racing through the waves, each stride created ripples of cultural resonance, each relay a surge of converging thought. With their agile figures, they inscribed the power of diverse coexistence.
和煦学院的同学们身着明亮如暖阳的黄色，活力与热忱扑面而来。他们以骄阳般的姿态奔赴赛场，用团结诠释和谐共生，用汗水传递善意与理解，让青春的温暖与活力感染着在场的每一个人。
The students of Lumina House, clad in bright yellow as radiant as the warm sun, radiated vitality and enthusiasm. They strode onto the field with the vigour of the midday sun, embodying unity through their collective spirit, conveying goodwill and understanding through their sweat, and infecting everyone present with the warmth and energy of youth.
和臻学院的队伍则意气风发，他们以变通为舟，敢于挑战挫折，将生命的绽放融入每一次起跑、跳跃与拼搏，在金风送爽的季节里，尽显生命勇者的风采。
The Apex House team, brimming with vigour, navigated challenges with adaptability, daring to confront setbacks. They infused the blossoming of life into every stride, leap and effort, displaying the spirit of life’s courageous warriors in the crisp, golden season.
此外，星海班、星辰班等特色班级方阵也各展所长，口号响亮，步伐坚定，用青春的朝气点亮了整个赛场。舞蹈队的灵动演绎、教师裁判员队伍的专业严谨以及家长志愿者代表队的温情助力，更为这场盛会增添了别样的温度与力量。
Moreover, the distinctive class contingents such as the Xinghai Class and Xingchen Class showcased their respective strengths, their slogans ringing out loud and clear as they marched with resolute steps, their youthful vigour illuminating the entire arena. The dance troupe’s spirited performance, the professionalism and rigour of the teaching judges, and the warm support from the parent volunteer team added a special warmth and strength to this grand event.
升旗仪式庄严举行，全体师生肃立注目，嘹亮的国歌在校园上空久久回荡，爱国之情在每个人心中升腾。
The flag-raising ceremony was solemnly conducted, with all staff and pupils standing in solemn attention. The resounding national anthem echoed long over the campus, while patriotic fervour welled up in every heart.
随后，喻校长发表开幕词，她寄语各年级方阵为我们生动展示国家在不同历史时期的奋斗足迹与辉煌成就。从筚路蓝缕的创业维艰，到改革开放的春潮涌动，再到新时代的伟大复兴征程，数智时代的科技飞跃，每一步都凝聚着无数奋斗者的智慧与汗水。这波澜壮阔的历程，本身就是一场气势恢宏的接力赛。而同学们，你们正是这场伟大接力中，充满希望、肩负未来的新一代奔跑者！
Subsequently, Principal Ms. Wendy Yu delivered the opening address, in which she conveyed her message：”The formation of each grade vividly illustrates the nation’s journey of endeavour and glorious achievements across different historical periods. From the arduous pioneering days of hardship, through the surging spring tide of reform and opening-up, to the great rejuvenation journey of the new era and the technological leaps of the digital age—each step embodies the wisdom and sweat of countless strivers. This magnificent journey itself is a grand relay race. And you, dear students, are the hopeful new generation of runners in this great relay, bearing the future upon your shoulders!”
裁判员代表与运动员代表分别庄严宣誓，承诺坚守公平公正原则，秉持拼搏进取信念，为运动会的顺利开展保驾护航。在全场雷鸣般的掌声中，喻校长宣布运动会正式开幕，瞬间点燃了所有人的激情。
Representatives of the referees and athletes solemnly took their respective oaths, pledging to uphold the principles of fairness and impartiality while embracing the spirit of perseverance and striving for excellence, thereby ensuring the smooth conduct of the Games. Amidst thunderous applause from the entire venue, Principal Ms. Wendy Yu declared the Games officially open, instantly igniting the passion of all present.
开幕式表演环节更是高潮迭起。舞者们用柔韧而有力的肢体，演绎着从困顿到觉醒、从寻觅到拥抱光明的生命旅程，每一个动作都饱含深情，点亮了在场每个人心中的希望。
The opening ceremony performances proved a veritable crescendo of excitement. With supple yet powerful movements, the dancers portrayed life’s journey from hardship to awakening, from seeking to embracing the light. Each gesture brimmed with profound emotion, kindling hope within every heart present.
复古港风舞蹈活力四射，学子们身着碎花衬衫，踩着岁月的节拍，将童年的快乐与青春的元气洒在操场上；创意舞蹈穿梭于色彩的海洋，每一次转身、每一次跳跃都充满了无限创意与激情；学子们用铿锵有力的声音，讲述着中国从实验室到空间站的创新故事，用深情的歌唱礼赞伟大的祖国，将家国情怀与青春梦想完美融合，赢得了全场阵阵掌声。
Retro Hong Kong-style dance bursts with vitality, students clad in floral shirts stepping to the rhythm of bygone eras, scattering childhood joy and youthful vigour across the playground; creative dance weaves through a sea of colour, every turn and leap brimming with boundless ingenuity and passion; With resounding voices, the students narrated China’s journey of innovation from laboratories to space stations. Through heartfelt songs, they paid tribute to the great motherland, seamlessly blending patriotic sentiment with youthful aspirations, earning thunderous applause from the entire audience.
