合肥市包河区协和双语学校重视学生科学与创新意识的培养，在今年的协和科创节上，三年级的学生们分组合作，共同探究了宣纸的历史与制作工艺。本次活动让孩子们可以在科技高速发展的新时代重温中华先祖智慧，领略古代人民的卓越成就。

SUIS Hefei Campus attaches importance to the cultivation of students’ sense of science and innovation. In this year’s SUIS-HF Science and Innovation Festival, P3 students worked together in groups to explore the history and production process of Xuan paper. This activity allowed the children to revisit the wisdom of their Chinese ancestors and appreciate the outstanding achievements of the ancient people in the new era of rapid technological development.

造纸术是中国四大发明之一，为人类文明进步发挥了巨大的作用，宣纸作为中国造纸术的代表，是中国独有的文化现象和世界宝贵的文化遗产，自诞生起就受到了历代文人墨客、书画名家的追捧，宣纸也成为了中国书画用纸的代名词。

Papermaking is one of the four great inventions of China, which has played a great role in the progress of human civilisation. Xuan paper, as a representative of Chinese papermaking, is a unique cultural phenomenon in China and an invaluable cultural heritage in the world, and since its birth, it has been pursued by literati, painters and calligraphers through the ages, and Xuan paper has become synonymous with the paper used for calligraphy and painting in China.

调动感官识宣纸

Mobilising the senses to recognise Xuan paper

学生们通过看一看、摸一摸、抖一抖、撕一撕的方式感受宣纸的特点——洁白如玉、有纹理、柔软等。

Students felt the characteristics of Xuan paper – white as jade, textured, soft, etc. by looking, touching, shaking and tearing.

 

墨水滴一滴，洇于纸上变幻无穷，孩子们发现通过这种方式，可以将宣纸分为生宣、半生熟和熟宣三大类，并在老师的带领下，一起欣赏和感受承载了字画的各色宣纸。

Ink drop by drop, blotting on the paper changes infinitely, our children found that in this way, the Xuan paper can be divided into three categories of raw Xuan paper, semi-raw and cooked Xuan paper, and under the leadership of the teacher, together to appreciate and feel the various colours of Xuan paper carrying the words and paintings.

 

了解工艺制宣纸

通过学科联动，学生在语文课上了解了宣纸的制作历史和方法，感受到徽文化的厚重与千年传承。那宣纸如何制作呢？从纸浆到抄纸最后到装饰，孩子们都跃跃欲试，亲自动手完成，作品呈现的那一刻，孩子们成就感满满，整个探究过程其乐无穷。

Through the linkage of subjects, students learnt about the history and method of making Xuan paper in the language class, and felt the heavy and thousand-year inheritance of Hui culture. How to make Xuan paper? From pulp to paper copying and finally to decoration, our children are eager to try their hands to complete, the moment the work is presented, our children’s sense of achievement, the whole process of exploration is endless.

走出校园赏宣纸

结合本届科创节“学子探古今，智慧创新行”这一主题，三年级师生将课堂搬进了安徽省博物院，在文物中探索宣纸的痕迹。

Combined with the theme of this year’s Science and Innovation Festival, “Students Explore the Past and Present, A Walk Through Science and Innovation”, P3 teachers and students moved the classroom into the Anhui Museum to explore the traces of Xuan paper in cultural relics.

文房四宝馆的展品和文字让大家应接不暇。根据当时的社会需求，宣纸于不同时期所产生的工艺、结构和特色吸引着每一个孩子们的眼球。跟随讲解员的脚步，沿着先人的足迹，孩子们时而认真倾听，时而皱眉思考，时而满目钦佩，不时小声地发出“哇！”“好厉害！”“原来是这样！”的赞叹声。除宣纸外，孩子们还一同领略了文化底蕴同样丰富的徽墨、歙砚、宣笔的魅力。

The exhibits and texts in the Museum of Arts and Crafts overwhelmed everyone. According to the social needs of the time, the craftsmanship, structure and characteristics of Xuan paper produced in different periods attracted every child’s eyes. Following the footsteps of the interpreters and following the footsteps of their ancestors, our children listened attentively, frowned and thought, looked with admiration, and from time to time whispered, “Wow!” “Amazing!” “So that’s how it is!” Our children also made a lot of other things. In addition to Xuan paper, the children also enjoyed the charm of Anhui ink, ink stone and Xuan pen, which are also rich in cultural heritage.

古代劳动人民用勤劳的双手和无穷的智慧，为宣纸、为中国传统文化的发展孜孜不倦地奋斗千年，在世界历史文化上留下浓墨重彩的一笔。通过本届科创节活动，协和学子们对话古今，对宣纸的制作工艺和文化历史有了深入的了解，同时中国传统文化的深远与美好也滋养了孩子们稚嫩而富有创造力的灵魂。

Ancient working people have been tirelessly striving for the development of Xuan paper and Chinese traditional culture for thousands of years with their hardworking hands and infinite wisdom, which has left a strong mark on the world’s history and culture. Through this year’s Science and Innovation Festival, SUIS-HF students had a dialogue between ancient and modern times and gained a deep understanding of the production process and cultural history of Xuan paper, while the profound and beautiful traditional Chinese culture nourished the children’s tender and creative souls.
